Tests that are frequently performed as part of a standard full-scale wind turbine blade test programme are:
The test facility has three blade test lanes, each with its own test rig. Currently, blades of up to 60 meters have been tested.
The strong floor is capable of taking concentrated loads up to 500 tons and is equipped with 2200 anchor points for fixation of test rigs and structures.
Most of the software for the measurement and control systems is developed in house,
giving flexibility in carrying out very complex testing on all kind of structures and components.
For loading structures, we have a wide variety of winches and hydraulic actuators at our disposal, such that for every job the optimum solution can be chosen. Two separate hydraulic systems, plus a modular approach for the construction of the test rig, make the picture complete and allow us to build practically every desired test setup for any kind of structure.
Rotor blades can be tested both quasi-statically and in fatigue using multi-axial and multiple-point loading.
To be able to reduce the fatigue testing time and still have full displacement and force control,
the multi-axial near-resonance test has been developed. Depending on the customers' needs full resonance or quasi-static fatigue tests are performed.
Static tests on wind turbine blades can be done both horizontally and vertically.
Inspections are carried out regularly during the test programs in order to find possible structural damages at an early stage. Apart from visual inspections by our experienced team a thermal camera can be used in order to detect hidden hotspots.
You will be updated regularly on the status of your project. Final reporting is generally done according to IEC 61400-23 for compliance with certification body rules.

Currently, WMC uses witnessing procedures to deliver e.g. DNV GL, or TÜV approved reports. We are in the process of obtaining ISO 17025 accreditation.
As an independent laboratory, we understand the importance of confidentiality. Our processes comply with general requirements to avoid predisposition and maintain confidentiality. The signing of a non-disclosure agreement is typically included in the preparation of a project.
